Nasog Point and its ruined beauty

Nasog point, iba, Anini-y, Antique- When I was young I often heard a story regarding a Ship owned by a Princess who used to live with the local villagers. A ship that carried gold. It is said, that ship docked at Nasog Point, Iba, Anini-y.

Nasog Point or locally known as Punta Nasog is a mountain that has a tail along the sea. It has caves, beautiful knife ridges, and forest that served as the home of the bats and monkeys. Unfortunately, these beautiful natural resources of Nasog was ruined. To give space for transportation accessibility, a road was built on its tail. The caves that served as the home of bats along the sea was destroyed. The monkeys also gone. A sad story I heard from my tour guide to the peak of Cresta De Gallo.

My hike to the peak of Cresta De Gallo.

Nasog Point (Punta Nasog) aligned with three mountains: The Nasog, The Banderahan, and the Cresta De Gallo. Banderahan is the most climb peak since it has eassier trail. But I chose to hike the Cresta De Gallo Peak. It rises approximately 100+ meters above sea level. It has a prominent beautiful peak. Its height could be able you to see the endless view of the sea, the Barangay Iba, and the Barangay of Casay, booth along the Municipality of Anini-y Antique. There is also a mini forest between the three mountains. The forest serves as the habitant of birds and even other species. It is said that there is unaccessible cave in it. The locals didn’t tend to explore the caves because they believed it is Mariit there.

Cresta De Gallo Ridge is a perfect sidetrip if you will visit Nogas Island and Siraan Hotspring. Its peak will surely attract you to try its summit.
